As a mindset coach, one thing I believe in strongly is clearing limiting beliefs techniques. 

Limiting beliefs hold us back from getting exactly what we want. They disempower us. 

If you’re not familiar with limiting beliefs, here’s a quick overview: 

  • A limiting belief is something you believe to be true about yourself that limits you
    • For example, “I’m too old to start my own business.”
  • Limiting beliefs ARE NOT always obvious. Many people are not even aware they have them. 
    • How to know if you do: do you have what you truly want in life? 
      • Are you in a loving, committed relationship (if you want one)?
      • Are you happy with your health, mentally and physically?
      • Are you making money the way you want to make it?
    • If you answered no to any of the above, you have limiting beliefs. 

The Problem with Limiting Beliefs 

A limiting belief is a thought we repeat to ourselves over and over. That repeated thought gets ingrained into our subconscious. We then act in accordance with that belief. Those actions create the outcomes in our lives. 

For example, let’s say you were told at a young age that “money doesn’t grow on trees.” You accepted that as true because you were a kid and an authority figure said it. As a result, you’ve always believed making money is difficult. Therefore, you probably haven’t taken “easy” paths to make money (I.e. charging for things you’re naturally good at, taking business opportunities that look promising, etc.)

Some people can easily move past their limiting beliefs - they just stop accepting them as true when they see evidence to the contrary. 

For the rest of us, here’s how to get rid of them.

Clearing Limiting Beliefs Techniques

One thing I used to believe is that our destiny is preset: that no matter what we do, some things just aren’t in the cards for us. 

However, if that were true, no one would’ve ever accomplished anything great (broken records, gone from poverty to creating multi-million dollar businesses, etc.)

One of the most important things I’ve learned as a coach and entrepreneur is that we create our own success.

The thoughts we repeat to ourselves become our beliefs. Those beliefs lead us to take action (or inaction). That action produces the results of our lives.

I had to repeat to myself a new thought: we create our own success. To deepen it into my subconscious, I looked for evidence that was true. I read articles of people who went from near poverty to amassing fortunes, all through their thoughts, beliefs, and actions. This helped cement the idea in my brain.

The next time you think you can’t accomplish something, try some of these clearing limiting beliefs techniques.

First, take a step back. Find evidence to prove otherwise. If someone else accomplished it, that means you can, too. 

The first step to creating a new reality is to question everything you believed in the past.

Next, remember this simple formula: Repeated thoughts create beliefs. Beliefs create action. Action creates results. 

Thoughts + beliefs + action = results

To change your results, change part of the formula. The easiest place to start is with your thoughts.
